Mary-Anne Morrison

Profile

Mary-Anne makes original 3D sculptural forms involving swirling rhythm and circular movement.

Mary-Anne’s series of work explores the concept of rhythm which is developed around notions of strength, movement and tension through her manipulation of paper, fabric and thread. She repeats the substance and process in her investigation of rhythm and all the works include aspects of stitching, weaving, folding, joining, tying or pleating.

The contrast between organic and man-made is central to Mary-Anne’s aesthetic. It is a means by which to engage the idea of opposites by bringing together the contained and uncontrolled, the measured and accidental, which creates tension that does not jar by instead creates a gentle harmony.

Mary-Anne has work selected for touring exhibitions nationally and internationally and exhibits regularly in the U.K.
