Chair Welcomes Three New Members
Debbie Lyddon, current chair of the 62 Group welcomes three new members: Claire Barber (UK), Christina Hesford (UK) and Marie-José Gustave (Canada), bringing the total number of exhibiting members and honorary exhibiting members to sixty-five.
Claire Barber is an artist and senior lecturer at the University of Huddersfield undertaking practice-based research in the Department of Fashion and Textiles.
The investigation of cultural traditions and vocabularies for textiles is a fundamental component of her creative practice with an interest in the interconnection between place and the way people are connected to their surrounding environment. More…
Marie-José Gustave is an artist of French Caribbean heritage (Guadeloupe), she has been creating works with paper for about fifteen years. A self-taught artist, her work is based on experimenting with materials and combining different craft techniques, amongst which are basket making, knitting and crocheting. More…
Christina Hesford is an artist-maker based in the North East of England, who uses textile processes, such as weaving and knotting, to make art objects, wall-based artworks and site-specific installations. My current work challenges notions of perfection by using imperfection to create beautiful works, often using knots to symbolise this. More...
